Growing up, I had two wonderful parents Elaine Marie and Charles Joseph Noto. They were loving parents who showed me that two people can really support each others needs completely and accomplish the goals that each individual desires.
My Mother was born from my grandparents Ann Serchia and Ernest Serchia of Rochester, NY. My grandmother Ann Serchia, who has since passed away. Her and I had exchanged many letters in our lifetime. My grandfather is an accomplished tool maker, who has exemplified the Timex expression that he takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. Heck, he defines the length of the tick! At more than 90 years old, he still drives his car, shops, and washes his own laundry. I am proud to say Grandpa Ernie is where much of my organizational and time oriented skills have been acquired. He is the primary reason why I put something away where it belongs, and why I can find it when I need it. My Father was born from my grandparents Francis Noto and Charles Noto, Senior also of Rochester, NY. Grandpa Chuck has since passed away of liver cancer. Grandma Fran keeps herself very active working and visiting family around town. Both of my grandparents have instilled in me the ability to make the most of whatever God has bestowed upon you! I spent my younger years in Rochester where my parents and grandparents never divorced and our childhood was well supported by family and friends. A few years back I lost my father to lung cancer. My father drank socially, did frequent bars or other smoky establishments and did not smoke himself. Why lung cancer was what ended is very short life I do not pretend to understand. However, I can tell you he had instilled in me what I needed from him as my Father in the time that we had. I have heard people say that God takes the good ones first, and my Father certainly fits this statement. I never comprehended the terrible loss that occurs when you loose a parent. I am so lucky to still have my Mother to speak to and share with. So, to my two Wonderful Parents... It is hard to put into words now that I understand what you were trying to give me. Please know that I did receive from you exactly what I needed and that I understand just how right you were about so many things that would impact my life. Thank you for giving me a wonderful childhood and all I needed to make the most of life!!! In addition to my two wonderful parents, I also have a very special Godmother, my Aunt Kate (aka AK), who always treated, my brother, sister, and I as her own. It is thanks to AK that I learned how to ride horses from the best instructors around while growing up in Rochester, NY. AK provided the money for countless hours of instruction as well as an extraordinary amount of her own time carting me back and forth to and from the barn we frequented. We had many talks to and from the ride to the barn. My dear Aunt Kate has profoundly impacted, supported and influenced my life in a very positive way! Thanks AK, I Love You and truly appreciate all you have done for me! I consider my family life and childhood to be extraordinary in many different ways. The people who invested their time to be with me and influence my life have enabled me to share with my children so many things. It is with the utmost admiration, respect and love that I thank both my parents and Godmother. You have enabled me the thoughts and capabilities to positively impact my children's lives! I promise to pass on to my daughters all the love and personal growth opportunities that you gave me! I only hope I am 1/2 as good as you were for me...I Love You!!! At the age of 12, my immediate family and I moved to Pembroke Pines, Florida where I continued to ride horses as well as worked my way through St Thomas Aquinas High School with honors in 1984. Although I no longer had AK driving me to the barn I continued to let horseback riding shape my discipline and capabilities with animals. Mom and Dad tell me times were tough for them financially when we first moved to Florida and I am sure they worried of the impacts this might have. I really never even noticed the hard financial times you endured for all of us. I can not recall a time our family ever missed a beat in the song of life! |
